Follow these four simple steps to ensure your DTF transfer delivers a clean, durable, and professional finish:
1. Position the Design
Place your transfer on the garment exactly where you want it. Make sure the fabric is smooth and free of large wrinkles to avoid uneven results. For items like hats or when using a household iron, heat-resistant tape is recommended to keep the transfer securely in place. With time and experience, you’ll know when it’s needed.
2. Press the Transfer
Set your heat press to 310°F (155°C) and apply medium to high pressure for 13 seconds.
Always test on a single piece first.
Use a Silicone Upper Platen Cover and Garment Protector to prevent direct contact between the heat source and the garment. While applying extra heat, pressure, or time won’t harm the transfer, it can scorch delicate fabrics.
If scorching occurs:
First, reduce pressure.
If needed, reduce the temperature by 10–15°F while keeping the lower pressure.
With a bit of trial and error, you’ll dial in the perfect settings for each material.
3. Peel After a Few Seconds
Thanks to our Easy Peel Technology, you can peel either hot or cool.
Wait a few seconds after pressing, then peel smoothly. If parts of the design lift:
Lay the film back down
Press again with more pressure and +15°F
If needed, increase the temperature by until the design adheres completely
EZDTF transfers are durable—multiple presses won’t damage the design.
4. Final Press & Wash Instructions
Important: While the majority of other DTF companies advise you to press it just once, this is improper. After hundreds of wash tests, we have found that a final press is imperative to create a superior product.
After the design is transferred onto the garment, with the film peeled off, cover the design with provided parchment paper or a single layer of t-shirt material and press for ~15 seconds. By doing so, it enhances the value of your product by greatly improving the durability and softness as well as reducing the shine. For a glossy look, use a guard sheet for the second and final press instead. For best results and longevity, wash the garment inside out in cold water and dry on low heat or hang to dry. Washing it with standard settings is fine, but it lasts longer with more delicate settings.
