FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q1: What is DTF transfer printing?
DTF (Direct to Film) is a printing method where designs are printed onto a special film, coated with adhesive powder, and heat-pressed onto fabric. It works on cotton, polyester, blends, and a variety of other materials.

Q2: How is DTF different from sublimation or vinyl?
Sublimation only works on light polyester fabrics, whereas DTF works on a wider range of materials, including cotton, polyester blends, and even dark fabrics. Vinyl requires cutting and layering, but DTF prints full-color designs in one go.

Q3: What types of fabrics can DTF transfers be applied to?
Cotton, polyester, blends, canvas, denim, and even treated leather.

Q4: How do I use DTF transfers?
Place the printed film on the garment, apply heat press at 160–170°C (320–340°F) for 15–20 seconds, then peel the film (hot or cold peel depending on type).

Q5: Can I use an iron instead of a heat press?
It’s possible, but not recommended for professional results. A heat press gives even pressure and the correct temperature.

Q6: How long do DTF prints last?
With proper washing care, DTF transfers can last 50+ washes without cracking or fading.

Q7: Do DTF transfers crack or peel?
Poor application (low heat, wrong pressure, or skipping powder) can cause peeling. Correct application makes transfers long-lasting.

Q8: Why is my DTF transfer not sticking to fabric?
Common reasons include not enough heat/pressure, humidity in the film, or incomplete adhesive powder coverage.

Q9: Why is my DTF print fading after washing?
Use gentle washing, turn garments inside out, wash with cold water, and avoid harsh detergents or dryers.

Q10: Is DTF better than screen printing?
For small runs and full-color designs, DTF is faster and cheaper. For bulk orders of single-color designs, screen printing may be more cost-effective.

Q11: Are DTF printers high maintenance?
Yes. They require daily cleaning and proper storage to avoid ink clogging. Many businesses prefer ordering pre-made DTF transfers instead.

Q12: What are the disadvantages of DTF printing?
Requires special inks and films, printers need regular cleaning, and transfers can feel slightly heavier than sublimation.

Q13: Can I order custom DTF transfers from you?
Yes! Upload your design through our Gang Sheet Builder, and we’ll ship transfers directly to your door.

Q14: Do you ship internationally?
Yes, we ship worldwide with fast delivery options.

Q15: What is the turnaround time for DTF transfers?
Most orders ship within 24–48 hours, depending on order size.
Q16: What file format is required for printing? For optimal results, please provide a high-resolution transparent PNG file at 300 Dpi resolution.

Q17: What is Direct to Film (DTF) Printing? DTF is an innovative technique for creating full-color designs on T-shirts and other garments. It involves printing on specialized film with textile-specific ink, followed by heat pressing the design onto the garment.

Q18: What is a Gang Sheet? A Gang Sheet allows multiple designs and colors to be printed on the same transfer sheet, optimizing the printing process.

Q19: What are the heat press instructions for DTF transfers?

  • Preheat the press to 280-300°F / 155-160 C.
  • Apply medium pressure (6 KG) for 9-13 seconds.
  • Allow the transfer to cool for 10 seconds before peeling.
  • Use the Cold Peel / Hot Peel method for removal.

Q20:. Can you print a file with low resolution? Yes, we can print low-resolution files, but please note that the responsibility for print quality in such cases lies with the customer.

Q21: What are the recommended sizes for adult transfers?

  • Pocket: 4"
  • Baby Onesie: 5"
  • Toddler: 6"
  • Youth: 8"
  • Adult XS, S, M, L, XL: 11"
  • Adult 2XL, 3XL: 11.5"
  • Adult 4XL: 12"

Q22: How should I prepare my file using Adobe Illustrator? Create your design in Adobe Illustrator and adjust it within the size range of 22x20 to 22x200. Export your design as a PNG at 300 Dpi, ensuring there is no background.

Q23: Can I use Canva to prepare my file? Yes, Canva is an alternative for those who don't use Adobe Illustrator. For guidance, watch this tutorial:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MFNH_K6PdvY

Q24: What is your turnaround time (TAT)? We strive to ship orders the next day.

Q25: Will you review my file before printing? Absolutely! Send your file to info@ezdtfmaker.com for a pre-order check.

Q26:. Do you offer expedited shipping? Yes, we provide express and overnight shipping options, which can be selected during the ordering process.

Q27: Do you offer UV DTF printing? Currently, UV DTF is not available, as it's unsuitable for products not resistant to pressure and high temperature.

Q28: Should there be space around and between images in the design? Yes, ensure there is adequate spacing between images and around the edges of your design.
